Our Values, Our Choices

Updated: Aug 17, 2023

During our last Brand Reveal blog, we released an investor video kicking off a final equity round for the remaining 20% of capital required to build the resort.

Since that time, we have been talking with large investors all over the country and have hired Piper Sandler to manage the process. Piper Sandler is a $2B+ public company with an excellent investment banking reputation in the hospitality industry.

Our goal is to find capital that not only wants to make money, but also wants to be an impact investor that helps us blend vacation with transformation AND social responsibility – whether related to mental health, the environment, conscious capitalism, or various other cultural causes.

One perfect example is Mark Comora, who lives in New York. Mark founded the sustainability firm Fortistar in 1993, and they have invested $3.5B across 14 portfolio companies as a leader in the decarbonization of power generation, transportation fuels, and industrial processes. He is also an avid outdoorsman, and advocates using fly fishing to help restore mental health for our veterans. He co-produced the acclaimed movie Mending the Line to tell this story. We are excited to pursue his passion further with our project.

As we head toward the finish line in our capital raising process, we spend a lot of time evaluating prospective investors -- just as they are evaluating us. This involves constantly thinking about trade-offs and introspective questions like who we are, what is our highest aspiration, how aligned is this new capital source, what are the risks, etc.

Answering these questions requires an examination of our values, so I thought that I would share those related to our brand promise. We are truly grateful that you take the time to know us more deeply, such that we can serve you more fully in a few years when we open.

Much love and light.

  1. We believe in blurring the lines between vacation and transformation so that healing is a “want” rather than a “must” and the pursuit of wellness is a pleasure not a chore.

  2. We believe in the lasting impact of transformational experiences when accompanied by the right intention and focus on mind-body-spirit integration.

  3. We believe in the unlimited power of wellness wisdom derived from ancient healing traditions and modern science.

  4. We believe in the interconnectedness of all things and that when we heal ourselves, we are driven to and equipped to help others.

  5. We believe that ongoing access to community, practitioners, and knowledge creates an interconnected family that works toward the common good.

  6. We believe in the restorative power of nature, creating a regenerative and sustainable sanctuary that reconnects guests with the natural world and inspires a sense of wonder and awe.

  7. We believe in being accountable to ourselves, our guests, and the planet, upholding the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and transparency.

  8. We believe it is a moral and ethical imperative to operate sustainably, minimizing our environmental impact and contributing to the well-being of our local community and the planet as a whole.
